The Castello del Buonconsiglio, the prestigious residence of the country's prince bishops, is the venue of a large and enchanting exhibition of copper handmade objects mainly used as crockery for banquets: coolers, pails, bowls, cups and cake moulds of artistic and crafts
value. The thread directing our walk through the display follows a selection of the most ancient and rare copper-alloy (bronze) containers bearing witness of the changes in taste and technological improvements from prehistory to the Roman age through the early Middle Ages.
The core and richest part of the display includes charming copper objects from the Renaissance till the beginning of this century, covering a time span of enthralling forms, models and symbols to testify a profound evolution in cooking and banquet
tools. The wide retrospective section compares the most significant expressions of the extraordinary artistic and technical skills of the master coppersmiths of central and Eastern Alps and other
areas. Prestigious paintings on still-lives and the interiors of ancient manor houses of the aristocracy depicting copper household furnishings are on display together with handmade objects coming from the most important public and private collections.
